48-72 hours BEFORE your Tan
If you have not had a spray tan before then we recommend coming to us for a patch test. A patch test involves applying a small amount of the tanning solution behind your ear and leaving this on for 24-48 hours to ensure you do not suffer a reaction or any irritation from the solution.
If you wax instead of shaving, we advise having this done 2-3 days before your spray tanning session as this will give your skin time to settle down from the waxing. Skin can be sensitive after waxing and the tanning solution may irritate freshly waxed skin.
24 hours BEFORE your Tan
Exfoliating will remove any flaking or dead skin. Your tan fades as your skin sheds so ensuring you exfoliate beforehand will help to make your tan last longer.
If you are going to shave before your tanning session we recommend shaving at least 24 hours beforehand to help prevent a blotchy or streaky tan. This will also ensure your skin has enough time to settle down after the shaving and avoid any soreness or irritation.
As with exfoliating, giving your body a good moisturise the day before your tan will ensure your skin is well hydrated and in tip-top condition before the tan is applied. An oil-free moisturiser is perfect as it wont act as a barrier towards your tan.
On the day of your Tan
DO NOT Moisturise
This will act as a barrier to the tanning solution and may cause your tan to become blotchy. If you suffer from extremely dry skin we would advise using an oil-free moisturiser a minimum of four-hours before your tanning appointment.
DO NOT Wear Deodorant, Aftershave, Perfume or Make-Up
This can react with the tanning solution and make you look green – not a good look!
Wear Dark, Loose Fitting Clothing
After your tan you may still feel a little sticky even though we do our best to dry you off as much as possible, this is why we recommend dark clothing. We also advise you to wear loose clothing after your tan (pajamas or a dressing gown is ideal) as tight clothing or bra straps can rub at the tan leaving unpleasant marks where they have been pressed/rubbing against the skin. Flip-flops or loose slippers are great for the feet but you can also use the sticky feet we provide as slippers until you have fully dried off.
Remove All Jewellery
We recommend removing all jewellery before your tan, especially rings, bracelets and necklaces for the obvious reason that you will be left with white marks where they have been resting against the skin. It is your own choice as to whether you remove earrings, such as small studs, if worn all the time, will not be an issue.
